About Us
Our Story
Green Earth Minerals was founded on generational knowledge from the Gold Rush era of NZ 1860 (photo on right founding grandfather John Colligan 1901, Burnetts Face).
Our journey evolved with the recognition of the need to transition to renewable energy, which requires responsible development of critical mineral resources. We saw an opportunity to combine New Zealand's mineral potential, advanced technologies and world-leading environmental practices.
Our strategic permits in the Buller District were selected for their mineral potential, accessibility, infrastructure, and minimal environmental impact. Sustainability is woven into every operation, using advanced techniques to pinpoint deposits with minimal disturbance.
As demand grows for technology minerals, Green Earth Minerals stands ready to supply these needs through an approach that blends innovation with environmental stewardship.
Denniston Incline
Denniston is located 9km from Waimangaroa which is 16.5km east of Westport on State Highway 67, the route north towards Karamea. The famous Incline, which was in operation from 1880 to 1967, delivered large volumes of high quality coal down a precipitous slope to the rail head below, was widely referred to as the '8th Wonder of the World' because of its length, gradient and the volume of coal it carried.
Base of the Denniston Incline where coal transferred to rail for transport to Westport harbour. This standard gauge railway connected mining operations to export facilities since 1885.
The Incline today, showing remnants of New Zealand's most significant industrial site, including brake mechanism housing and foundation stones.
